However, if the paver ahead is paving too fast, by the time the roller with the compaction system reaches the material, it will not be able to adhere properly.
That said, if the material is rolled at too high a temperature, this also negatively impacts compaction as the stones in the material are pushed below the surface, leading to less texture and slip resistance. It is critical that the rolling temperature is correct and that the paver and roller work together to prevent future failures on the road.

Once the pavement is placed, tests must be carried out to verify the precision of the project. The rolling rule test, for example, which consists of a fixed distance rule mounted on several wheels with a sensor in the center, is used to measure road deflections.
Before the paving is laid, accuracy requirements will be established, generally specifying that over a 3m length, inaccuracies cannot exceed 6mm. If the pavement contains a depression or peak in the material that has been placed, the rolling rule test equipment will notify the operator.
Errors detected by the rolling screed test can be one of the leading causes of paving job failures and must be corrected so that drivers do not feel a bump in the road on their travels.

This paving system would provide accurate grade and elevation information to the screw operator through a high-contract control box, ensuring operators have all the information needed to ensure accurate grade and material thickness.
